Like their earlier book collaboration, the authors present a no-nonsense, balanced effort, covering many subjects and answering many questions that may commonly be asked by students with 3-8 years of Aikido training. How to maximize practice time, how to get the most from seminars, things to think about if you are considering opening a school... all are addressed here. There is a good amount of technical instruction as well, but the dojo is the best place to learn these things. An excellent effort, and well worth the investment.
Having read several various types of books on aikido I can without a doubt say this is definitely my favorite. It covers a lot of info most books do not cover such as the discussion of ki in a way that is easier to comprehend. I only had it for about four days having borrowed it from a friend and am currently awaiting my own recently purchased copy now as a result of reading it. I can not yet speak for the step by step parts of the book in the later half but the photos are very clear and easy to follow along. The first part of the book which is text is golden. Concepts such as mushin and zanshin are seldom discussed or mentioned in aikido books and learning how to soft gaze allows your mind to stay calm and focused in addition to taking in more information without loosing your focus. I can't wait to spend more time with it and to keep it as an ongoing reference.
My husband has been a student of Aikido for 21 years. He studies under Carmen Pelusi Shihan of Eight Winds Aikido Society. He loves anything Aikido.

I like the Nage waza references and variations, but I was hoping for more uke directions. The authors are clearly capable.
